Sidekick is a Chrome extension that lets you chat with AI about any webpage. It is designed to keep your data local. There is no server, no account, no analytics, and no tracking. This policy explains exactly what data is handled and where it goes.
The following data is stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local and is never transmitted to any server:
Saved conversation logs and audio files are written to your local Downloads folder (Downloads/Temp/sidekick-logs/) and are not transmitted anywhere.
When you send a message in the chat, the following is transmitted directly from your browser to the Anthropic API:
API calls go directly from your browser to Anthropic. No proxy server or intermediary is involved. Anthropic's own privacy policy governs how they handle API requests.
This only applies if you enable ElevenLabs text-to-speech in Settings. When you click "Speak" on an assistant message:
If you do not configure an ElevenLabs API key or use the free browser voice engine, no data is sent to ElevenLabs. ElevenLabs' own privacy policy governs how they handle API requests.
If you select a non-system font in Settings (Inter, DM Sans, IBM Plex Sans, or Source Sans 3), a single font file request is made to Google Fonts. If you use the default "System" font, no request to Google is made.
Conversation data is held in memory while the tab is open and written to your local Downloads folder when the tab closes. It is then removed from browser storage. Settings persist until you uninstall the extension or clear extension data.
You can delete saved conversation files from your Downloads folder at any time. Uninstalling the extension removes all stored settings and API keys.
Sidekick is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
If this policy is updated, the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
